Started in the early eleventh century, Leon Belmont began a bloodline that would seek to rid the world of the evils of the night, Dracula most of all, from the lands of Wallachia and the world as a whole. As the Belmont family grew, it also suffered a massive loss of life through its goals of containing evil. Decades after Leon, Simon Belmont continued on the job of the hunter of the night and stormed Dracula's castle to strike him down. Through the use of various magical items, he scaled the tower and confronted the monolithic figure, the leader of the night. Although he was successful, he knew too well that Dracula did not vanish forever and that the Belmonts will continue their watch.
Nearly a hundred years later, another Belmont, Ritcher, set out to rescue Annette, his love, as Dracula's minions kidnaped her. Later, he would learn and save many other women captured by the evil that lived in the Castle. Like every direct male Belmont, he carried with him and was an expert at wielding the Vampire Killer. a metal whip capable of hurting and killing vampires. With it, he made his way through the traps and minions of Dracula and faced him in combat. Winning and basking Dracula in the Sunlight to kill him yet again. He would scape the collapsing castle and continue the Belmont bloodline like those before him.
Castlevania is a beloved videogame franchise that excellently uses its atmosphere of easter European myths and landscape to enhance its monsters and the feeling of isolation. A sole hunter of the night who has honed their skills through grueling practice and a bloodline that imparts superhuman pressure on each of its descendants caps off the power fantasy of being the Belmont that can take down Dracula.
In Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Simon and Ritcher are the same characters, apart from a small change in the way Holy Water works. Ritcher is considered the Echo fighter of Simon. In the competitive world of Both are considered exceptional characters for controlling and spacing the stage.
