Simply the best fighters in the game
Indie darling fighter Skullgirls 2nd Encore is a game with striking animations, solid mechanics, and properly balanced fighters that deliver an insane combo game that enables you to mix your rivals into oblivion with crazy combos and pressure sequences.
While the game itself may be hard to get into, the community's intensely passionate as they try to make the learning process as painless as possible as there is so much to dig into for those that love to experiment and also for those that would instead execute the lab work of others. Not only is there an active community to serve as the backbone of your online experience, but the netcode is also fantastic, with the developers still supporting the game with DLC characters.
Overall, Skullgirls 2nd Encore is a wonderfully charming fighting game with an incredibly memorable cast of characters, all represented by gorgeously animated hand-drawn sprites that make them feel alive. There's a good chance that one of the characters will appeal to you on some level with the jazzy soundtrack that enhances the experience to a new level.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore is a great 2D fighting with a soul. If you happen to like extensive combo games, deep system mechanics, and a wonderfully supportive community while being able to look past a steep learning curve, annoying matchmaking, and a divisive art style, then you should get into Skullgirls 2nd Encore.
The game also has an intense competitive scene, and for this reason, we've made a tier list that grades each Skullgirls 2nd Encore fighter from best to the very least. However, every fighter in the game is brilliantly crafted and well-balanced; therefore, the player's talent combined with the strength of the fighter decides the victory in a fight. Have that in mind when considering this tier list.
S Tier: Simply the best fighters in the game, stand-alone or team battles. Equipped with a large cache of decent tools to aid secure a win.
A Tier: These are excellent fighters in stand-alone or team battles, although not on par with S-tiers, but have a good chance of dominating a match with a decent player controlling them.
B Tier: These are great fighters with a few flaws that hamper them from winning high-level competitions. They require substantial effort to dominate a match.
C Tier: These fighters don't stand out, but they don't have glaring weaknesses.
