Everything you need for getting the max from your Krypt exploration

Crushing bones of game opponents and landing over-the-top fatalities brings a special fighting satisfaction, but this is far from everything MK11 can offer. In breaks between bloody fights, players can visit Krypt, a unique world, full of tricky environmental puzzles and chests with great Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt items. Chasing these rewards is an awesome addition to the primary playing process, a challenge even for experienced players, and just a splash of fresh joy.

Have you just started your Kryp adventure? Do you feel stuck in your progression in this area? Then this MK11 Krypt items guide may show you the right direction and explain some very helpful tricks. Here we talk specifically about Krypt Key Items - everything that helps unlock doors and reach new areas.

Let’s peek into MK11 Krypt

Most fighting games give players various options to customize their characters. It’s a great way to show your real personality and make your in-game presence unique, different from thousands of other players. This becomes possible thanks to skins and other cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay. In some cases, you can unlock such costumes and color variations by purchasing them with internal cash (like in Street Fighter 5). But in Mortal Kombat 11, the process of customizing your character is a bit more complicated and at the same time more interesting. Here is when Krypt comes to the scene.

Cosmetic items and other rewards in MK11 Krypt

  • skins
  • taunts
  • player icons
  • brutality animations
  • character/location art
  • music
  • gears
  • etc.

These things can be found in chests. Content and locations of the chests are randomized, so you won’t have the same game experience as other players. But in the end, when you finish MK11 Krypt, you will have the exact collection of items like the others.

To open chests of different types, you will need different resources.

Chests in Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt and resources to open them:

  • Treasure Chests - Koins
  • Special Flaming Chests - Hearts
  • Soul Vaults - Souls

Krypt is full of puzzles and dangerous traps, so don’t think playing here will be easy. You will need special items to solve puzzles, proceed forward, and open all the chests (around 600). And this Mortal Kombat 11 Kryt guide is exactly about these Key Items.

MK11 Key Items in Krypt

You can just pick up most items in Krypt - if you know where to look. One Key item needs to be crafted in the MK11 Forge area. A few Key Items are available in the Towers of Time.

Krypt Key Items in Mortal Kombat 11 - Full List:

  • Shao Kahn's War Hammer
  • Gem of the Living
  • Cracked Horn of Motaro
  • Scorpion's Spear
  • Kenshi Takahashi's Blindfold
  • Ermac's Amulet
  • Raiden's Shattered Staff
  • Dragon Amulet Key
  • Heart of Blaze
  • Skeleton Keys
  • Amulet of Earthrealm's Protector
  • Fragments of the One Being
  • Kronika's Amulet
  • Cetrion's Amulet
  • Shinnok's Amulet

Here we talk about each of them in more detail. Please, check out where these Krypt Key Items are located and how you use them.

Shao Kahn's War Hammer

This is the first Key item you get in Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt. You just can’t miss it - walk to the end of the Palace Entrance.

The War Hammer helps to smash walls to enter new areas, destroy some objects for getting koins out of them, and solve puzzles.

Gem of the Living

In the Palace Entrance, you need to destroy the gate behind the platform with War Hammer. The gate leads to the Courtyard. Break a wall there - near Kronika’s Time Vault. Hit a gong there to open a new gate in the Courtyard that leads to Forge. Turn right towards the Mountain Pass to enter the Shrine. Proceed through it North and enter the Warrior Shrine. A meteorite will smash the statue of Raiden. Hit it with the War Hammer and get the Gem of the Living.

This Mortal Kombat 11 Key Item is needed to open the Balance Door in the Courtyard.

Cracked Horn of Motaro

Place the Gem of the Living into the door left to the gong in the Courtyard, enter the Gardens, break boards on the left side, and enter the Vault. Look for a lever close to the entrance and pull it. You will enter a new room, and Cracked Horn of Motaro will be there.

You need it to access Goro's Lair. Return to the Warrior Shrine, use the Cracked Horn of Motaro to open a huge door. Take an elevator to enter an underground area, Goro's Lair.

Scorpion's Spear

In Goro's Lair proceed to Goro's Throne Room and take the path behind the Throne. It leads to the Armory room. Scorpion's Spear is located there (it’s covered with flames).

This item is needed for destroying various targets from a distance and pulling down corpses.

Kenshi Takahashi's Blindfold

Go West in Goro's Throne Room to walk through the Treasure Room and enter the Jail. Explore it to find the body of Kenshi and take his blindfold.

Kenshi's Blindfold allows players to see Hidden Treasures and Weak Walls by watching into the Spirit Realm.

Ermac's Amulet

Enter Goro's Dining Hall - East from Goro's Lair. Go to the back right side of the room and take an elevator there to reach the Lower Pit. Ermac will fall onto a huge spike. Take the amulet from the body.

Ermac's Amulet unlocks green Soul Vaults with Soul Fragments, open passageways, and restores bridges.

MK11 Skeleton Keys

These items can be obtained from various chests, so be ready to grind. How to get Skeleton Keys MK11 then? Like many other items in Krypt, they drop randomly, and you can’t predict where you will be able to find a chest with a Skeleton Key MK11. Then, it disappears after only one use, so you need to look for another key. Your patience in this process will be beneficial!

It also means that there is no MK11 Skeleton Key recipe, you can’t craft the thing. The recipe is exploration and persistence of your Krypt playing sessions. Yep, MK11 Forge Skeleton Key is a myth, you can’t obtain the item by combining different ingredients.

Skeleton Keys in Mortal Kombat 11 open different doors. Some of them lead to chambers with many chests. Others give access to passageways, convenient shortcuts. Small practice is needed to recognize those gates, as they are a bit similar to those that require Scorpion’s Spear.

Raiden's Shattered Staff

To get this Key Item in Krypt of Mortal Kombat 11, you need to obtain the Amulet of Earthrealm's Protector first. Look for it outside Krypt, in Towers of Time - finish the tutorials and you will have it as a reward. Then return to the Warrior Shrine to the base of the damaged statue of Raiden. Insert the Amulet of Earthrealm's Protector - the statue will be restored and you will get Raiden's Shattered Staff.

Dragon Amulet Keystone

Through Goro's Lair, proceed to the Torture Halls on the second floor. You’ll find traps and chests. One of the Treasure Chests contains Dragon Amulet Keystone. After entering the Torture Halls, turn left and open the Thunder God's Door with Raiden's Shattered Staff.

Dragon Amulet Key opens Dragon's Door, located between the Warrior Shrine and Forge.

Heart of Blaze

To get this MK11 Key Item, you need Fragments of the One Being from the Towers of Time (check out the next section). Use the Fragments to open the Door of the One Being near Goro's Lair. Open the chest deep in the cave (80,000 Koins).

Heart of Blaze and Scorpion's Spear help to burn corpses in the Sacrifice area and open chests there - proceed to the space behind the Warrior Shrine.

Key Items from the Towers of Time

Some Key Items cannot be obtained directly in MK11 Krypt. You get them in the game mode Towers of Time.

Amulet of Earthrealm's Protector

Finish all the objectives of Tutorial Towers to get the Amulet.

Use the Amulet of Earthrealm's Protector for getting Raiden's Shattered Staff - it restores the statues of Raiden.

Fragments of the One Being

Complete Finisher Challenges. You need to perform 10 Fatalities, Brutalities, and Mercies for three Fragments: Heart, Mind, and Soul. Return to Krypt and Mortal Kombat 11 will add these Key Items to your inventory.

Fragments of the One Being are needed to open the Door of the One Being - it’s located near Goro's Lair. in the room behind that door, you’ll find Heart of Blaze.

Elder God Puzzle

Three amulets in Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt are needed to solve the Elder God Puzzle.

  • Kronika's Amulet

Give money to the Shrine. “Donate” your first 1,000 Koins there and you will get Kronika's Amulet.

  • Cetrion's Amulet

Perform 50 Fatalities while fighting Cetrion in the Towers of Time or Klassic Towers.

  • Shinnok's Amulet

This is one of the MK11 forge items. Look for the recipe in chests, or just use three ingredients any time:

  1. Ensorcelled Demon's Heart
  2. Ensorcelled Gem of Trapped Souls - only in Soul Vault in the Dead Woods
  3. Ensorcelled Eye of a Dragon - visit the Kytinn Hive in Goro's Lair and kill spiders there.

For more info about solving the Elder God Puzzle, check out our guide on MK11 Krypt Amulets.

It would be better to not concentrate on Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11 for too long. It’s nice entertainment and a source of cosmetic items, but the main excitement of this game is still fighting. Many players consider Kryp quite difficult, so you may need to mix these puzzles with kicking asses of your opponents. Hopefully, our MK11 guide on Krypt Key Items will help to avoid the most annoyingly hard situations. Have fun!

Another way to expand your experience in any fighting game (including Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7) is to play some other characters. What about taking a look at new Mortal Kombat fighters: Rambo, Mileena, and Rain?
