Jin Kazama was born after the second King of Iron Fist Tournament. Obviously, before that, his parents Jun Kazama and Kazuya Mishima met and fell in love. Little Jin was born in a peaceful mountainous area. There, his mother taught him the fighting style of the Kazama family.
Jin Kazama was a talented and kind child. His mother taught him how to control his emotions, think with his head, and feel with his heart from early childhood.
On the day of his 15th birthday, a monstrous attack on their home happened. It was the work of Ogre, who had escaped to freedom.
Jun Kazama sacrificed herself and managed to help the child survive. Shortly before that, as if anticipating trouble, his mother revealed that Jin belongs to the Mishima clan and must find Heihachi Mishima who can help. After getting out of the mountains, Jin Kazama discovered his grandfather, who received and raised his grandson well. At school, Jin Kazama met Ling Xiaoyu.
As Jin Kazama grows up, Heihachi Mishima announces King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. His winner was to be the one who would defeat Ogre in his cave. Wanting to punish the abuser of his mother, Jin Kazama takes part in the tournament and destroys Ogre's true essence. Shortly before, Paul Phoenix defeated the physical shell of Ogre.
The fight with Ogre was one of the hardest in Jin Kazama's life. He defeated the beast but was wounded. At that moment, Heihachi Mishima attacks him and shoots him with a pistol. It looked like Jin was killed, but he managed to survive.
It was challenging for him to survive Heihachi Mishima's betrayal. Because of this tragedy, he retires to a remote place for two years and teaches karate there. Heihachi lures him back by organizing the fourth tournament. The victory in this tournament and the desire to teach his grandfather a lesson attracts young Jin Kazama. As a result, he was captured and taken to Heihachi Mishima. Kazuya Mishima appears in the same room.
However, Jin defeats both Kazuya and Heihachi. Then he fought again with Jinpachi Mishima. After these three victories, Jin Kazama becomes the head of the family company Mishima Zaibatsu. Still, at the same time, he loses the internal struggle to the demon, which forces him to unleash a world war. Jin then convenes a new King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Jin's personality can range from patient and cool to rude and arrogant at times, and his words and actions suggest that he harbors a bitterness deep within himself. Although portrayed as a monster in his devil form, he is never depicted as evil (unlike his father Kazuya and grandfather Heihachi), believing everything he does is for a good reason.
It is well known that Jin used to be "sweet and nice," but after everything he has been through, he appears to have lost much of his ability to feel compassion for others. Firstly, both his father and grandfather are two of the evilest and ruthless individuals to have ever been on the face of the globe. Secondly, while he was still a teenager, his mother was cruelly and abruptly taken away from him by his father. Thirdly, his grandfather, whom he had placed a great deal of trust in, betrayed him. Fourthly, he discovers that he has inherited the Devil gene he cannot control or rid himself of, which embodies all of the evil he has been fighting against in the Mishimas. Fifthly, the return of his great-grandfather, Jinpachi Mishima, has caused him to begin losing his internal battle with the Devil within, which has caused him to lose his faith in humanity. Sixthly, the appearance of Azazel prompts him to corrupt the Mishima Zaibatsu even further in order to have the opportunity to face the beast and sacrifice himself in order to destroy it, as previously stated. These things happen to a helpless and unassuming Jin, who is simply doing everything in his power to make things right at every opportunity.
Jin appeared in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament as a Mishima-style fighter; however, in reality, Jin's moveset was a hybrid of Kazuya and Jun Kazama's, with many of Jun's moves retained alongside improved versions of Kazuya's moves.
Jin's fighting style changed in Tekken 4, while comparable to the Mishima's, Jin lacks their powerful single moves, having to rely on a variety of different tools like superior poking, evasive maneuvers, stealthy stance transitions, and outstanding counter ability which more than make up for his lack of raw damage. His pokes are quick and difficult to read, and none of them are particularly punishable on block, allowing him to maintain constant pressure on his opponent.
Jin has a special parry that allows him to "circumnavigate" around some of the game's rules. It is extremely beneficial, but it is difficult to put into practice. In order for Jin's parry to work, he must physically push his opponent away from the attack, allowing them to recover to the point where they are unable to block and allowing Jin to counter-attack them while they are still recovering from the move, making it appear as if he isn't parrying at all. This is the only way to properly punish some moves that are normally safe on block or only marginally punishable in other situations.
In Tekken 7, due to Jin's low damage potential, he requires specific environments to utilize combos to deal tremendous damage.
Jin Kazama has black hair that spikes at the back of his head in the same way his father Kazuya Mishima does. In addition, Jin sports fringes, just like his mother, Jun Kazama. Furthermore, Jin is noticeably muscular, with a low body fat percentage, a testament to his many years of rigorous training. Jin's body structure is similar to his father's, but his face is very similar to his mother's appearance. One of Jin's most distinguishing features is a black tattoo-like mark on his left shoulder, which he received due to the Devil Gene branding him.
