Sonic

The most powerful element in the Sonic universe is the Chaos Emeralds. Each carries with it a set of powers, and if someone were to collect them all, they would be able to tap into an incredible but unstable source of energy. Doctor Robotnik, also called Doctor Eggman, is one such individual looking for emeralds. In an attempt to find them, he begins turning animals into robotic mimics. Sonic then sets out to stop him and save them. He was eventually successful, thanks largely to his friend Tails, and Eggman was defeated, and the emeralds were now safely spread throughout the world, at least the ones found thus far. Dr. Robotnik was not a quitter, though, and began construction of an orbital station that would be powered by the emeralds and threaten the world at large. Sonic and Tails once again fought Eggman and brought the whole structure down back to earth.

Crashlanded into an island, Eggman found Knuckles, an echidna, and protector of one of the Chaos Emeralds. Eggman convinced him that Sonic was after the emerald and that the two should defeat him before he could take it. Knuckles followed his orders right up until he was defeated by Sonic and Tails, who actually explained Eggman's plans, but not before he was able to take the Chaos Emerald and bring back his space station with it. It would take the heroics of the trio to bring it down once more. To this day, Sonic and his friends protect the world from Dr. Eggman's attempts to capture the Chaos Emeralds.

Sonic is an icon of gaming and Japanese publisher Sega. The franchise has its roots in the original slew of home consoles, and that is perhaps where most fans made their first memories of the series and fell in love with the games' rapid pace and expansive levels. Nevertheless, Sonic games have recently been a small renaissance feature of both 3D and classic 2D graphics.

Sonic is very much a specialist's choice of character in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate competitive scene. It is not rare to hear that Sonic players are a threat, particularly in bad matchups for others. But even with a high potential cap, a lot holds Sonic back from being a top-tier character. Still, you will find a healthy player count, particularly top players, fielding the character, making it a menace in offline tournaments if one is unprepared for the matchup.
