Ganondorf is a crucial character in the Zelda franchise and Super Smash Bros. There are only a handful of real villains in the roster for the games, and many lose their grit when put next to characters like Jigglypuff. But Ganondorf does remain a towering figure in the cast.Know more

Most often, the central antagonist of the Legend of Zelda series. Ganondorf, or in his beast form Ganon. His motives and actions change from game to game, but his objective in life revolves around power and control over others. Be it reigning over Hyrule, kidnapping princess Zelda, and/or obtaining every Triforce part. He is one of the few Nintendo Villans portrayed as intelligent, determined, and capable of achieving his goals through cunning and decisive action with incredible physical strength to boot. It takes the blessing of gods and ancient prophecies to bring him down.
His appearance in Super Smash Bros Ultimate is based primarily on Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He led an assault on Hyrule Castle and tried to take the Ocarina of Time under his control. Thankfully, Princess Zelda made her escape before it was too late and threw the Ocarina of Time into the Castle's moat to avoid Ganondorf taking ownership of it. Unbeknownst to him at the time, so Ganondorf made pursuit for the princess.
As one of the heaviest characters in the roster, Ganondorf is generally not favored for competitive play. However, he has seen an improvement over his Super Smash Bros 4 incarnation. A key highlight of these changes was enhancing his knockback power, making it even stronger than before. There were also improvements in his mobility, but they were considered not that impactful considering the character's limited defensive capabilities. In recent years the characters have seen a slow burn of players leaving him over other more tournament-ready characters. But there is always a place for his incredible strength and powerful presence at any stage.
