Which Street Fighter 6 Edition Should You Buy?
Not one size fits all, so which version are you picking up?

If you are thinking of grabbing Street Fighter 6, but you are unsure as to which edition of the game is right for you, allow us to walk you through what each one offers and what you should expect from them.

Before You Buy Street Fighter 6

Remember that Street Fighter 6 has a playable demo, covering the tutorial and the first hour of the single-player mode (World Tour), available on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The progress you made and the character you created can all carry over to the full game too.

So, before you go any further, if you still have some reservations as to whether or not you want to purchase the full game, you can always give the demo a go and see for yourself. You can also watch our review of the game. If you want to know more about how well Street Fighter 6 will run on your platform of choice, including Steam Deck, then make sure to give our article on its performance a read.

Finally, if you are planning to play on consoles, keep in mind you will need a Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership to play online. This is not the case for those buying the game on Steam.

Street Fighter 6: Standard Edition

SF6:SE is the lowest-priced full version of the game. It contains all the base characters, the World Tour, and Battle Hub. If you only want the base experience of Street Fighter 6, Standard Edition is likely the best for you, as you can always choose to upgrade your edition later at a discounted price. If you buy the game through Steam, you can also purchase the content from the other editions separately.

The Standard Edition of the game contains the following characters:

Street Fighter 6: Deluxe Edition

Next up is the Street Fighter 6 Deluxe Edition. This version includes everything in the Standard Edition plus the Year 1 Character Pass. The pass consists of four new characters, which have yet to be released, four additional color options for only those new characters, and 4200 Drive Tickets, the Battle Hub’s currency for cosmetics.

The characters included in the Year 1 Character Pass are:

  • Rashid
  • A.K.I.
  • Ed
  • Akuma

Street Fighter 6: Ultimate Edition

The most expensive option, the Ultimate Edition, contains everything from the previous version, including the Year 1 Character Pack. On top of that, it has eight new skins for the Year 1 Character listed above and more Drive Tickets totaling 7700.

Our Recommended Edition

For most players, we would recommend purchasing the Standard Edition unless you know you will want to play the Year 1 Characters as soon as they release, in which case buying the Deluxe Edition is the best bang for your buck approach. As for the Ultimate Edition, unless you really want the extra costumes and the Drive tickets, then the price of admission is simply too high to recommend, maybe once the game goes on sale it will be easier to justify the price for the included goodies.

What about Game Pass or Playstation Now?

Right now, there have been no indications that Street Fighter 6 will be available through those subscription services. But perhaps after the first year or two, Capcom will feel compelled to do so as Street Fighter 5 is available for PlayStation Now subscribers.

You Bought Street Fighter 6, What's Next?

Hopefully lots of fun! Playing the World Tour is a great way to learn the basics of the game while also engaging with the amazing world the Street Fighter franchise has built over the years. But, if you want to jump into the competitive scene immediately, we recommend you check out the full character roster here in DashFight. We have already published a handful of short guides for some of these characters, with many more coming soon.
