Biography

Story

G Corporation and Mishima Zaibatsu are engaged in a constant arms race to gain an advantage in their seemingly endless conflict. One of the most famous examples of their attempts to create an ultimate weapon is the Jack series of robots, created by G Corporation. However, the series of robots was not the only thing they were working on. While Jane led the development of Jacks, the biotechnological division was doing research on altering the human genome.

Gigas was once a regular fighter proficient in savate, but after gene-enhancing experiments, he turned into a hulking beast with nothing but destruction on his mind. Gigas was entered into the seventh King of Iron Fist tournament to test his capabilities and how he fares against the Jack-7 series.

The first opponent Gigas had to find was unexpected, to say the least. Katarina Alves, the savate martial artist from Brazil, was none other than his adopted daughter. While the true result of their fight is uncertain, it's undeniable that the two recognized each other, with Gigas suffering from a severe headache as his old memories and feelings clashed with his new body and G Corporation's program.

Personality

Due to experiments done on him, Gigas behaves like a violent animal with an urge to destroy. You're unlikely to hear him uttering anything more than a wild grunt. However, when he sees his adoptive daughter, Katarina Alves, his humanity briefly comes through.

Appearance

Gigas is a massive beast with red skin, very long arms, and enlarged muscles on the top half of his body. His body is covered in various metallic plates, with some having outgoing tubes. On his head, he wears a helmet that covers most of his face except for the mouth.

Playstyle

Gigas is a very straightforward character. While his mobility is some of the worst, and he doesn't have a toolkit as versatile or powerful as many other members of the Tekken 7 roster, you shouldn't dismiss him as a weak, low-tier fighter. One of the defining strengths Gigas has is his range and very strong, albeit risky punishment. With his long arms, Gigas can easily keep out opponents and take control of spacing while also discouraging opponents from whiffing, as it would lead to a damaging punishment. This is aided by his unique power crush. While it deals no damage, it allows Gigas to endure his opponent's attack and dole out punishment even when it normally wouldn't be possible, making it a significant threat even for characters with a strong offense.

When going on the offensive himself, Gigas has decent, safe on block approach tools and counter hit moves to discourage his opponents from pressing haphazardly. However, taking a patient approach when fighting Gigas would be a mistake, as he has several moves that can be charged up for great frame advantage and grant him a strong mix-up.

Despite these strengths, Gigas is not lacking in flaws, either. His attacks are on the slower side, his movement is bad, and he lacks good panic buttons, which makes it difficult for a Gigas player to escape pressure. Some of his stronger moves carry a risk of either strong punishment or interruptions. His big body also allows opponents to do more damaging combos on Gigas, especially at the wall. Lastly, his while standing punishment is rather lacking, meaning that his opponents can get away with doing risky lows as long as they're less than -18.
