Biography

Lucario is a tall bipedal Pokemon that resembles a dog or a jackal. Its evolutionary line includes only Fighting-type Riolu, which gains an additional Steel-typing after evolving into Lucario. The mechanics of it are somewhat rare – it needs to have maxed out friendship or happiness points with its trainer.

Lucario has several traits that set it apart from the rest and make it notable, even though it’s not a Mythic or a Legendary Pokemon. Most Fighting-types usually specialize in physical attacks. And while Lucario itself learns many great moves, it also has an above-average special attack stat and could be pivoted in unusual directions to surprise opponents. This could be attributed to its nature – Lucario is known as an “Aura Pokemon.” It’s able to sense the energy that surrounds every human and Pokemon, Aura, which gives him many advantages. Lucario can read others’ thoughts and movements, especially strong specimen are able to do it from almost a kilometer away. No living being, however stealthy or small, can avoid detection by it.

Another big advantage that Aura grants Lucario is the ability to telepathically communicate with humans. Pokemon who are able of even rudimentary communication are exceedingly rare, which makes it very special. It is said that Lucario can sense the justice within the hearts of trainers and will only bond with those who it considers just.

In addition to this, Lucario itself can gather nearby Aura to create an offensive ability Aura Sphere. In Super Smash Bros., it has a Smash-exclusive move called Aura Storm.

One final trait that sets Lucario apart from all the other Pokemon is that it was the first to master the extremely powerful Mega Evolution form. The significance of this feat is reflected in the big statue of Mega Lucario erected in the Pokemon X and Y’s Kalos region’s Tower of Mastery.

Lucario first appeared in Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Its unique trait is that it deals more damage the more punishment it takes. This was preserved for all future appearances and was even buffed and made the centerpiece of his whole character.
