Kazuya Mishima is one of the essential characters in Tekken. He is a muscular young man who had a difficult childhood, to say the least. His father, Heihachi, killed Kazuya’s mother. After, Kazuya was determined to enact revenge and kill Heihachi, but lost. His father disappointedly threw him off a cliff towards certain death. But Kazuya lived. In large part, thanks to the activation of his Devil Genes, which had only happened moments after being thrown off the cliff.
He also has a brother and rival—Lee Chaolan, an orphan child who roamed the streets until Heihachi took him into his household. In the twisted mind of the wealthy businessman Heihachi, it was the best way to train and strengthen Kazuya in his formative years.
After losing one of the King of Iron Fist Tournaments, Kazuya was again tossed off a cliffside, this time into a volcano. Presumed dead for years, he was rescued by G-Corporation, specializing in biogenetics and a rival company to Heihachi’s Mishima Zaibatsu. The corporation studied Kazuya’s Devil Genes and eventually unlocked them for him to use as he pleased.
Eventually, Kazuya would become the leader of G-Corporation and currently leads a war for power and control between him and his father, with various third parties as either mercenaries or unfortunate souls in the middle of a generational clash of the Mishima Family.
The initial impression of Kazuya from professional and high-ranking members of the competitive Super Smash Bros Ultimate community is that he will likely be a hard character to master and an even harder character to compete against if a specialist Kazuya player emerges to make use of his extensive moves. A good recovery, heavyweight, and strong specials set him up as an imposing figure in 1-on-1 fights.
