Biography

Story

Seong Mi-na was raised in the Seong Dojang run by her father, Han-myeong. At one point, she ran away from home in search of Soul Edge, known to her as Sword of Salvation, intending to protect her land. Before she could get herself in danger, Hwang, her senior whom she treated as an older brother, found her and brought Mi-na home. Her father was angered, forcing Mi-na to redo all of her training and follow a rigid lifestyle, but it turned out to be the least of her problems.

Hearing about her father wishing for Mi-na to marry and pass on his Dojang to a son-in-law, his disciples started swarming Mi-na with proposals. She suggests they try and beat her in a fight in exchange for considering their offers and swiftly defeats a crowd of students. The commotion attracts Hwang. The two have a conversation about what happened before her father calls him back. Hwang reveals to Mi-na that he's rejoining the army to protect their land. She wishes to do the same, but Hwang reminds her that women cannot serve in their country. Feeling frustrated and underestimated, Mi-na runs away from home once again.

Wishing to make others recognize how capable she is, Mi-na sets her sights on acquiring the much sought-after Sword of Salvation. Her first stop is the Ostrheinsburg Castle. On her way there, Mi-na encountered Ivy. Frustrated over being treated as a child and an inferior, Mi-na challenged Ivy but couldn't put up much resistance, making Ivy lose interest and withdraw. Their fight was observed by Xianghua's estranged father and a powerful martial artist, Kong Xiuqiang. His carefree attitude annoyed Mi-na, and she challenged him to a fight but was no match. Acknowledging his strength, Mi-na begs Xiuqiang to train her. In just a year, she achieved significant progress, even defeating Xiuqiang in their sparring match. Under the pretense of getting alcohol, her mentor disappears, only leaving a note, telling Mi-na that he no longer deserves to be her teacher.

Continuing her quest of finding Soul Edge, Mi-na comes across a distressed man attacked by Lizardmen. She defeats them and delivers the injured man to a nearby village. Before succumbing to his wounds, he hands Mi-na a map and a strange metal plate with a snake crest engraved on it. Other villagers identified it as something related to Fygul Cestemus, a cult that has been terrorizing them and kidnapping people for a long time. Mi-na intends to save them, but villagers only offer discouraging remarks, telling her not to get involved. Infuriated with this familiar reaction, Mi-na decides that she doesn't need anyone's approval and endorsement to help others and travels to the cultist base. Unbeknownst to her, Hwang follows in her footsteps.

Mi-na successfully infiltrates the cult's underground temple and discovers kidnapped villagers. After fighting through a couple of Lizardmen, one of the cult's priests emerges. He reveals that Lizardmen were previously kidnapped humans, and the nearby village is bait for wandering warriors. Mi-na realizes why the villagers didn't want her to go. Exhausted, injured, and discouraged, Mi-na realized the real meaning of fighting. When she's about to be captured, Hwang shows up with rallied up villagers. With newfound courage, she defeats the remaining cultist. With everything finally over, Hwang further encourages Mi-na telling her that she doesn't need to be in the army or Soul Edge to protect her people, it's up to her to do what's right, and with Hwang quitting navy, he will be by her side.

Personality

Mi-na is an energetic and cheeky woman. She tends to speak whatever is on her mind and has intense reactions to whatever is happening. Despite having noble intentions of serving her country and protecting its people, Mi-na is a bit of a free spirit and has a tough time settling into a routine or abiding by a strict regiment.

Playstyle

Seong Mi-na is a strong, beginner-friendly character focusing on ranged attacks. Her pokes are excellent and favor being positioned around mid-range, where she can throw out a variety of mixups and keep out moves. With tools to lock down opponents, ring them out, chip away at their health, and punish their whiffs, she's a rather well-rounded character.

Her main weakness lies in a weaker close-range game. Most of Mi-na's attacks are on the slower side, making it hard to stop pressure. While she has several moves with built-in Guard Impact, using them properly requires taking some risk and often having a read on your opponent's next move.

Appearance

Mi-na is a pale-skinned woman with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair tied in a ribbon braid. She wears a pink headband, dark purple inner wrap covering her arms and shoulders, a pink shawl and loincloth with a flower motif, brown fingerless gloves, dark purple thigh highs, and brown and pink greaves.
