The might of fire for Pokémon Trainer SSBU

After exploring lots of fabulous lands in their core games, Pokémon Trainer decided to start their Super Smash Bros. adventure back in 2008 with the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. From an impressive variety of creatures, Pokémon Trainer (or, as some rumors say, the game developers) selected three - starters from the Gen I of Pokémon. Like in the core RPGs, this game character can take one fighter back to the Pokéball and replace it with the next one. It’s quite a brilliant idea for a Super Smash Bros. fighter, don’t you think? Naturally, Pokémon Trainer returns to the fight in the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Pokémon Trainer Smash Ultimate guide

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Pokémon Trainer usually switches to Charizard on rather high percentages of damage. The dragon is very strong and heavy, but at the same time, he is quite fast and has very good recovery options.

SIgnificant power of this fighter gives more chances to land a finishing attack. A heavy weight allows Trainer to stay in the match for a long time.

Pokémon Trainer can switch between the creatures only in a specific sequence: Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard -> Squirtle. You can speed up the switching process by using an attack right after the next Pokémon appear on the platform. 

Fast Switching:

• for Squirtle - charge Water Gun and jump to cancel it;
• for Ivysaur - Razor Leaf;
• for Charizard - Flamethrower.

The Pokémon changing option opens new possibilities for recovery - and this technique is worth training. For example, you can switch from Ivysaur to Charizard, who is much better in recovery.

Basic Attacks of Pokémon Trainer with Charizard 

• Jab activates a series of hits with the paws and one wing.
• Dash Attack - Charizard dashes towards the opponent and hits it with the foot.
• Forward Tilt - Charizard attacks the opponent by swinging his tail.
• Up Tilt is a small jump and a hit with the whole body but mostly with the wings.
• Down Tilt is a low hit with the head.

Charizard’s Air Attacks in SSBU

• Neutral Air - Charizard performs a somersault and hits the opponents with his tail. It’s a nice attack to continue Smash Bros Ultimate Pokémon Trainer combos, started with the Back Throw.
• Forward Air is a hit with one of the paws. It’s also a good continuation of the Back Throw.
• Back Air is a powerful hit with the tail. It’s one of the most effective attacks that can lead to KO.
• Up Air - it’s a kind of headbutt, which looks and feels very special thanks to a long neck of Charizard.
• Down Air - Charizard stamps with his mighty foot. It’s quite a good combo starter, which can be followed by Up Smash or Up Special.

Special Attacks - Charizard Pokémon Trainer guide

• Neutral Special - Flamethrower. Charizard breathes fire (he is a fire dragon after all). The fire can prevent opponents from returning to the platform.
• Side Special - Flare Blitz. The Pokémon surrounds himself with flames and charges forward. This attack causes an explosion that damages even Charizard. It’s the best option for a KO attack. 
• Up Special - Fly. This is a very good recovery option. Use it with the double jump of Charizard. The dragon flies up and hits opponents on the way.
• Down Special - Pokémon Change. It summons Squirtle.

Smash Attacks of Charizard in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

• Forward Smash is a hit with the head.

• Up Smash - Charizard hits the opponent twice, using his both wings.This attack is pretty powerful and can finish the victim.

• Down Smash - it's a stomp that creates a damaging wave and launches opponents from both sides into the air.

Final Smash of Pokémon Trainer

• Triple Finish - all three creatures of Pokémon Trainer attack simultaneously.

Playing Pokémon Trainer gives you lots of options. For example, you can change the active creature to quickly match the opponent and their playing style (Squirtle for someone slow and heavy; Ivusaur to fight on a distance and against fighters with projectiles; Charizard against small opponents). Learning them all may take some time but this investment is quite rewarding - you will be able to come up with brilliant Pokémon Trainer combos for different situations and get many victories.
