Giovanna is hired as a bodyguard to protect several important targets for the upcoming G4 summit. When she is accompanying them, Anji interrupts their ride to the White House, but Giovanna doesn’t act, accurately perceiving that he’s not a threat, and they arrive at the destination. Giovanna then moves to the top of a remote building to take a nap until her colleagues meet up with her for special training.
On the day of the G4 summit, Giovanna is seen observing the surroundings from a high building when she’s shocked by an unknown scent, possibly that of Happy Chaos. She then disappears and doesn’t show herself until much later when Sol Badguy is about to clash with Nagoriyuki. Giovanna reveals that she’s been tailing the president this entire time, waiting for the right time. She tells Sol and president Vernon to run while she handles the samurai. After a hard fight, Nagoriyuki admits defeat. Unfortunately for Giovanna, this was only a ruse to make her let her guard down. Nagoriyuki uses this opening and promptly knocks her unconscious. After others resolve the incident with I-No and Happy Chaos, Giovanna recovers from her injuries.
Giovanna can come off as a bit careless or lacking tact due to her poor social skills. Despite that, she means well and tries to choose the right words in a conversation. Outside of work, where she always displays a great degree of professionalism, she can be pretty laid back and gets along well with animals and kids.
Giovanna is a woman with blue eyes, red hair, and tanned skin. When she gains meter, she turns more and more green, with a light spot on her forehead turning into a red recycling symbol. She wears white and green knee boots, grey high waist wide pants with suspenders, a white shirt with rolled sleeves, and brown fingerless gloves. Giovanna is always accompanied by her spirit wolf Rei. Rei is green with a black face and a red recycling symbol on its forehead with a heart in the middle of it.
Giovanna is a fast and aggressive character. Despite placing squarely in the rushdown archetype, her strong pokes and versatile moveset make her a powerful character even outside her preferred range. However, she excels when closer to the opponent. Her multi-hit normals and plus-on-block moves enable extreme pressure with a threat of counter-hit deterring attempts to interrupt her. If she wants to, Giovanna can end her block strings with a very safe special move or take slightly more risk and crack open her opponent with slower but more rewarding alternatives. Having one of the fastest dashes also enhances her strike throw game, as she can easily bait opponents into whiffing or move in to capitalize on openings.
Being such a complete and versatile character, Giovanna doesn’t have any significant drawbacks. Her strength is instead compensated by her best moves being reactable and not quite excelling in their category outside of her great sweep.
