Street Fighter V Results – Combo Breaker 2022
We have a champion for Combo Breaker 2022 Street Fighter V!

Xset's iDom was the winner of Combo Breaker 2022 for Street Fighter V after taking the final 3-2 against Bandits' Caba. In what was the best final you'll have seen in a while, the set went to the very last round before iDom found what it took to defeat Caba

So, iDom adds another prestigious feather to his growing portfolio of victories in Street Fighter V

Notable Moments

Top 8 featured some of the best players in Street Fighter V, but some others missed out of the top 8. This included RobTV who was knocked to losers by Shine and finally taken out by Mena RD. Also, we saw Punk lose out as he was defeated first by Caba and then Mena RD. Also missing out was NYCFurby, who saw his Dhalsim defeated by GhostChips all the way from New Zealand. There were hype moments all through, but finally, the final 8 looked like this:

  • iDom
  • ChrisCCH
  • Caba
  • Mena RD
  • Mono PR
  • Filipinoman
  • Shine
  • UpToSnuff

Top 8 Bracket

The top 8 started with iDom defeating Shine 3-0 and then Caba suffering the same fate in the hands of Mono PR. Filipinoman also defeated UpToSnuff 3-0 and the day was starting to look lopsided with players winning games with little effort. But things kicked into high gear as Mena RD, 2-0 against ChrisCCH, watched his lead burn to the ground as Chris mounted an incredible comeback to win 3-2. Many will question Mena's decision to stick with Balrog when he has been using Luke all tournament.

In Winners final, iDom quickly dispatched Mono 3-0 to send him to losers. But in losers things were getting interesting. First Caba won against Filipinoman 3-1 and then Chris sent Shine crashing with a dominant 3-0 victory. Then Caba and ChrisCCH faced off. Chris went with Sakura while Caba continued with his Guile (who turned out to be a menace.) Caba got a two-game lead and it was starting to look like another 3-0 when ChrisCCH started his comeback. He took a game and was on the hunt for another. But any dream of another comeback was dashed by Caba who was patient in his interaction with Chris and got the victory. With this momentum, Caba got his revenge against Mono PR who was also full of confidence after his performance at CEO 2021. He won 3-0 setting up a tantalizing final with iDom.

Grand Finals

While the top 8 moved along at a brisk pace, the grand final was a thing of beauty. iDom who had seemed unruffled all day found himself up against a formidable foe in Caba. With the support of the Dominican Republic behind him and brimming with confidence from his losers bracket run, Caba was really putting iDom to the test. The game dragged on and we found ourselves in a final game, final round situation. Caba, with some incredible play, took the round and reset the bracket.

iDom, buoyed by some of his displays in the first set, opted against using Laura and stuck to his Poison pick. He started quite well and took the first game. Just when it started to look like he would run away with it, Caba pounced. Showing insane mastery of his character and some intuitive reading, Caba took a game. This back and forth went on till the score sat at 2-2. iDom, worried about how things were going, started playing more actively, he attacked and looked to be a protagonist in the game as he found creative ways around Caba's fireball game. Caba was not to be deterred though as he still made iDom bleed taking a round and forcing the game to a last round. Whoever won the round was going to be champion.

iDom is one of the best players in the world and his quality shone through as he found the will to somehow beat Caba and win the game. The tension was palpable, and the crowd was in full voice. iDom has won and he is now the Combo Breaker Champion for 2022.
