Waka Flocka Flame vs Sonic Fox: an Epic MK1 Show Set
The game breaks the limits of esports and even the FGC

Mortal Kombat is a very special fighting series, as it brings people from beyond the FGC into our favorite genre. This includes countless casual players who rush into new releases to have fun with easy-to-execute combos and over-the-top fatalities. Also, the marketing campaigns by the Netherrealm Studios often involve celebrities of the global scales — like the awesome collaborations with Megan Fox and Dave Bautista, which make MK1 a phenomenon of the general culture.

The pro community enthusiastically follows the trend. And who could do that better than one of the most extraordinary MK players of all time, SonicFox? They participated in an epic MK1 show set — against the rapper Waka Flocka Flame.

The matches took place in New York. We have this VOD to enjoy.

Mortal Kombat 1 | Waka Flocka Flame vs Sonic Fox

Sure, we can’t take this set as a serious esports competition. Mortal Kombat 1 is out for just a few days in Early Access (have you seen our MK1 Review?), and even such natural talents as SonicFox need some time to explore the mechanics and make awesome discoveries (like the player actually does on their social account). But such an opponent is a challenge for every FGC professional, so people outside the competitive scene… well, they don't really have good chances vs SonicFox.

Still, Waka Flocka Flame brought special energy into this super early period of the game’s lifespan. It proves that Mortal Kombat is an awesome entertainment for all sorts of gamers and even for those who play only occasionally.

For more competitive matches, check out the MK1 tournament by MFSlayer or the announced competition of The Kolosseum Season V.
