With no one giving an inch, we will see who takes a step forward
Street Fighter League Japan Stage 2 Day 7 was on hand to give us all the action we could ask for and following CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming's clutch win last time around, all eyes were on them to see if they could keep the momentum going.
Two teams that have surprised so much this season went up against each other. Gyogun have been stalwarts in the league and have the most stable team of everyone. However, they have typically underperformed, but so far they have been amazing. In the first stage, they were in second place and this second stage sees them in second place again. On the other side, Detonation FocusMe were so poor in the first stage that they only made it to the second stage with the closest shave. But, the second stage has been a different story and they have been playing out of their minds.
Mizuha had given Gyogun hope with a great win against Fuudo who was surprinsingly not in the anchor spot. The second game was remarkable as John Takeuchi who has been on a poor run of form so far, finally got his act together to defeat the very strong Moke with Rashid. This set things up for the anchor match where Mago who has been posting some really impressive results, was waiting. Up stepped Itazan with Zangief and not Marisa which was very strange, but it did seem very player specific. Itazan lost the first game, but then put on a masterful performance to then take three straight games to finish the set.
With that win Detonation FocusMe got themselves 30 points and put themselves in first place at least for a little bit.
Final Scores
Gyogun (10) VS Detonation FocusMe (30)
CYCLOPS ATHLETE GAMING (AWAY) vs SAISHUNKAN SOL KUMAMOTO (HOME)
CAG have been in poor form and while they got an encouraging win last time out, they fell once again today. Dogura continued with his wretched form, losing to Kabe who has had poor results all season long and will hope to use this as a stepping stone to better performances.
The second game saw Kazunoko at least get some points for CAG defeating Higuchi who has been a bit up and down this season.
The final game saw Shuto, the best player of the team, take down Fenritti's JP. Shuto's win today again highlighted the weirdness of the decision to leave him out of the team in the last match day. This win doesn't move Saishunkan Sol up the table, but it at least moves them further away from the bottom.
Final Scores
CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming (10) VS Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto (30)
FAV Gaming continued with their great form consigning Shinobism to a damaging 40-0 defeat. Momochi has not been great and it was clear against Bonchan who felt like he wasn't exerting much energy. This was typefied by winning the last game with double perfects over Momochi.
This means Shinobism remain bottom of the table and Bonchan and FAV are back on top of the table crossing the 200-point mark in the process.
Final Scores
FAV Gaming (40) VS Shinobism Gaming (0)
