SF6 is The 2nd Most Watched Game In Japan With Mind-Blowing Numbers
The fighting game has only grown in popularity and has garnered quite a viewership in Japan

Street Fighter 6 has been an unmitigated success all around the world as it has sold millions of units and has been enjoyed by many around the world. But, even more impressively, the game is really doing well in terms of eyeballs as people are seriously consuming Street Fighter 6 content, especially in the region of its birth— Japan.

According to a stat put together by GikenTV, a stream tech research outfit, Street Fighter 6 is the second most watched game in Japan for the month of September 2023 with over 800,000,000 hours watched.

It was second behind only Grand Theft Auto V which is surprisingly popular in Japan. Street Fighter 6 was abouve games like Apex Legends, and VALORANT, and was obviously the highest placed fighting game.

This is a very welcome statistic and it only shows the growth of fighting games. This is easily the highest number we have seen for any single Street Fighter game. Jiyuna, an American streamer living in Japan, commented on the development saying that it warmed his heart to see Street Fighter 6 being consumed to such a degree and that it was great to see it break out of the FGC bubble into the general mainstream.

This growth in  viewership numbers is likely to do with events such as the Crazy Raccoon Cup and the Reject Fight Night series which have been huge successes in terms of  numbers. It will be interesting to see how the numbers look in other regions where the game might not be as popular as in Japan.
