Phenom is now a 4-time champion in a row for his various teams
Street Fighter League EMEAA held its grand finals over the weekend, and after a day of matches, Red Dunes Esports came out on top. It was their first win as Red Dunes, but the specific lineup of Phenom, Big Bird, AngryBird, and Juicy Joe are now three-time champions.
Even more impressive is the fact that Phenom is actually a four-time champion following his 2023 win with Zero Zero Nation. Therefore, he now has four titles with three separate organizations.
Red Dunes started the day as the second seed after finishing the regular season in second place. The first match was between MVS and Yesports, who finished third and fourth, respectively. MVS were expected to make a big splash, considering they had Korean superstar LeShar and NL, along with Capcom Cup finalist Kilzyou and one of France’s greatest legends, Mister Crimson. However, it was Yesports who took the victory, winning 50-30.
There was some mild drama involving Kilzyou and Rainpro when technical issues delayed their set. Frustrated, Kilzyou took to social media to air his grievances, claiming that he never faces logistical problems in Asia and America but always encounters them in Europe.
Yesports went into the semifinals hoping to claim another scalp, but Red Dunes proved too strong, winning the set 60-20 to advance to the finals.
There, they continued their winning run to take the championship. Big Bird was once again instrumental in Red Dunes’ victory, just as he had been during the regular season. Now, any doubts about the team's pedigree can be put to rest, as they have continued to win season after season and even managed to retain their championship despite the addition of Asian players and teams.
Next up for the team is the SFL World Championship, where they have yet to finish higher than third. But with this momentum, they might just be able to cause an upset.
