Play Mortal Kombat 1 For Free This Weekend
A free trial for the game is available to players for a limited time

In a bid to get more players interested in the game, Mortal Kombat will be offering a free trial of the game for the weekend starting from the 7th of March to the 10th, 2024. This means that anyone who wants to give Mortal Kombat 1 a whirl in that time can do so for free.

The offer goes further by giving players the opportunity to purchase the full game for 40% off the original retail price which should come to about $42. This offer lasts till the 21st of March 2024.

The free play weekend will feature most of the content of the game especially in versus mode. However, players will be restricted to only a part of the story mode (chapters 1 and 2 of the first map) and invasions will also be restricted. Also, this offer will not extend to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 came out to positive reviews initially, but has suffered some setbacks with desync issues, poor netcode, and a very unpopular patch where nerfs seem to be the order of the day.

It doesn't help that Mortal Kombat's parent company, WB Games, have announced that they will be focusing on mobile, free-to-play games, over their AAA offerings. This could mean less support for Mortal Kombat which could lead to even poorer performance of the game.

On the bright side, Peacemaker has joined the game's roster and seems to be a popular character at the moment. With other DLC characters joining the game also, there is some hope for Mortal Kombat 1 yet.
