MrAquaman Reignites Controller Discussions Ahead of Mortal Kombat 1

MrAquaman, founder of The Kolosseum, well-known tournament organizer, commentator, and content creator in the NetherRealm Studios ran a poll earlier this week regarding the preferred controller for those coming into Mortal Kombat 1.

The results highlight an interesting phenomenon among soon-to-be Mortal Kombat 1 players: the reliance on console controllers, Xbox & PlayStation in particular. This usually contradicts the general population of fighting game players, who often prefer to play via arcade/fight sticks or, in some cases, leverless.

The next few years will see an exciting development of the controller landscape for various reasons. One is Sony's entry into one of Microsoft's realms, that of highly accessible controllers. Unfortunately, not all the news surrounding controllers is because of lower barriers to entry. Still, sometimes it's about the competitive integrity of major events, such was the case with the CPT earlier this year.

The Mortal Kombat 1 community may not have run into those issues yet, but given the massive size of the marketing done by WB in the lead-up to its release, it might be a big topic of discussion among the old guard of the series and newcomers.
