Not only Sub-Zero can freeze opponents to death in MK11! What about exploring the same power of Frost?

Fighting games offer quite a few methods of destroying those impudent ones who dare to stand against your power. In Mortal Kombat 11, they might be pretty ordinary, like shooting them with powerful guns (RoboCop) or beating them with mighty fists (Sheevawait, is beating with four arms an ordinary thing?). Also, the game offers characters with absolutely fantastic abilities, such as shooting lightning (Raiden) or using deadly frost.

And talking about the freezing ability… It’s so cool to turn the opponent into a chunk of ice and then smash them into pieces. Or just create ice projectiles from thin air and shoot them at the victim.

Of course, Sub-Zero is the first who comes to mind when we are thinking about such a fighting style. But let’s not forget Frost. She might be a less popular MK11 fighter (ok, significantly less popular), but that does not mean she can’t win a match or two! Learn how to play Frost with this DashFight video guide, created by VideoGamezYo, and you might love her style and add this character to your active roster (mainly for fun, according to our Mortal Kombat 11 tier-list).

VideoGamezYo is one of the bright esports celebrities, ready to beat the current legends out of their thrones. He demonstrated an interesting style during WUFL Season 1 (especially in showcase matches) and won Mortal Kombat Pro Kompetition 2020 - Regional Final Europe West.

So, what does VGY have to say about playing Frost in MK11?

Frost’s Best Buttons

For the most useful basic attacks of Frost, VideoGamezYou recommends these buttons (as it’s usual for our MK11 guides, they are simple combinations of movement and attack inputs).

  • B1 — Headbutt. It’s an 11 frame mid attack with a very decent range. (It also has an unusual animation for a headbutt — Frost is a cyborg, so she takes her hand in the hand to hit the opponent).
  • B2 — Icy Maul. It’s also a mid attack, 19 frames, with a very good range.
  • F2 — Blade Lunge. Here we have another long-range button. It hits high.
  • D3 — Chest Cold. It’s an anti-air option for Frost, one of the best of this kind in the whole game.
  • D4 — Serrated. This low attack has a very good range as well.
  • 3 or 4 — Chill Toe. It’s a jump kick.

Frost — Best Variations in MK11

VideoGamezYo thinks that Frost has very versatile loadouts. He’s selected two of the most consistent:

  • Ice Auger, BF1. Frost shoots an ice drill projectile, which covers a good distance. It’s pretty spammable.
  • Glacier Calving, DD1. Frost creates an anti-projectile energy barrier.

Gameplan for Frost in Mortal Kombat 11

The biggest strength of this Mortal Kombat character is her range. Because of this, she can check opponents, and not many other fighters can do anything about that.

VGY demonstrates some attacks as an example of this range: D4 and B2. Combining B2 + F2 is good to control space.

If you can enforce many long-range options of Frost, lots of stuff becomes possible with her. In addition to that, the versatility of her variations and moves make her quite dangerous.

Best Strings while playing Frost

Frost has many good strings, and VGY considers these ones the most useful:

  • 1, 3 — Seeking Control.

  • B1, 2, 1 — Blizzard.

  • 2, 2 — Power-Hungry Kunoichi.

  • B2, 2, 1, 2 — Out Cold.

  • 3, 4, 4 — Icy Tomb.

  • B3, 2, D1 — Reborn.

MK11 Frost: Bread and Butter Combos

VideoGamesYo says that combos with Frost are not that difficult, and they are mostly based on two strings: Ice Auger, BF1, and Glacier Calving, DD1.

  • B1, 2, BF1, AMP, BF1, 2, DF2
  • B1, 2, DB4, AMP, FJ2, B3, 2, D1, S1, S1, 3, DF2
  • B1, 2, DB4, AMP, FJ2 , B1, 2, BF1, AMP, B1, 2, DF2

Weaknesses of Frost

This character doesn’t have a proper jab — her standing 1 has a very poor range. Also, Frost deals rather small damage in comparison to other characters that are near the top of tier lists. In other areas, she is pretty solid.

What do you think, guys? Is Frost a worthy character? Please, let us know on the forum.
