Biography

Story

Sol was born sometime in the twentieth century as Frederick Bulsara, a scientist specializing in Magic Physics. During his college years, he met Aria Hale, with whom he fell in love, and That Man. Following graduation, the three friends found employment in the core team of the Gear Project, which was founded by their professor, Vince MacDonell, in the hopes of improving humanity itself. He proposed to Aria at some point, and when she realized her fate, she offered to leave him a memento to remember her by, and Frederick chose her hat.

After the team stabilized magic-infused Gear cells, Frederick learned of Aria's condition after ten years of being by her side and begged her to cryosleep until they found a cure; Aria refused, preferring to spend her final moments with him. The military infiltrated the project during the same period while That Man restructured Frederick into a Gear by planting the Flame of Corruption within him, faking his death, and persuading Aria to cryosleep. Frederick awoke in the middle of an incident and confronted That Man, who denied being his friend and fled with Aria's capsule, ostensibly on military business.

Frederick escaped the facility, vowing to exact vengeance, and created his headband to keep his Gear cells at bay. He also became a bounty hunter, destroying many underground organizations searching for That Man's whereabouts, and the underworld began to refer to him as the "Badguy." Frederick made it his mission to destroy all Gears after the government restarted the Gear Project. Slayer tracked him down to quench his thirst for knowledge after being reported dead but somehow survived. Frederick's "shining like the sun" passion illuminated Slayer's path, and he was given the name "Sol" as a result. Frederick has since adopted both names as his own.

Personality

Sol is a brooding and unrefined individual who only communicates with others when it is vital. His previous persona as "Frederick" suggested that he was a straightforward yet aloof scientist. He was content with only two close friends and did not bother to compromise his integrity to appeal to those around him. However, after becoming a "monster," his previously unruly characteristics became much more pronounced.

Sol is regarded as crude and self-centered by most people, including those who consider themselves his friends. Due to this reason, he is not very good at communicating his thoughts and feelings, so he tends to compensate by bullying people into submission or simply steamrolling them. Additionally, he is extremely stubborn, never allowing the opinions of others to deter him from his choices once he has made up his mind. While he appears to be an aggressive lone wolf, Sol is a brilliant individual who does not tolerate nonsense and becomes "grumpy" whenever he cannot explain something to his satisfaction with logic.

Playstyle

Sol Badguy is an aggressive character who beats the opponent down with close-range attacks. Classified as a Balance type, Sol has tricky special moves which help him get in and a suite of normals that excel at setting up frame traps and strike/throw mix-ups.

His fighting style is well-known for being self-taught, without much form, emphasizing all-out brawling while wielding his sword in a reverse grip. His attacks are frequently crude, such as headbutts, wide-swinging strikes, slams, fierce punches, and kicks, prioritizing practical application of his strength over elegance.

However, with ferocious pressure, strong defense, versatile special moves, and explosive power Sol Badguy has all an offensive-oriented player could want.

Appearance

Sol has olive skin, brown hair, and hazel eyes, which are sometimes depicted as reddish-brown or golden with slit pupils—the latter of which is to distinguish his true nature as a Gear—and is sometimes shown as reddish-brown or golden with slit pupils. Sol keeps his spiky, waist-length hair tied at all times, and he does so while donning a red headband inscribed with the words "Rock You." The red brand on his forehead, which would otherwise reveal him to be a Gear, is hidden by the headband. He has a muscular build, regardless of whether he has been infused with the Flame of Corruption. As Frederick, his character is depicted with either brown or blue eyes; he has much shorter hair, a muscular physique, and a white lab coat.
