When I-No made her plans to change the future, she freed Happy Chaos from Ariels to aid in her goal. Happy Chaos, in turn, travels to an expensive high-rise hotel to release someone he used as an accomplice in the past. They are coming for Nagoriyuki, a vampire samurai who can see his opponents' weak points and has a sword that can harm even Sol Badguy. After he was free from Chaos’s control, Nagoriyuki paid an exorbitant fee and rented the basement in that hotel, entering decades-long meditation. Once Chaos obliterates the hotel with an orbital laser, Nagoriyuki awakens and immediately springs into the fight. Chaos and I-No use this as an opportunity to test him before Chaos binds him into service once again.
Nagoriyuki protected Chaos as he was chased by Sol, Chipp, Jack-O, and Anji. The two later have a discussion on a rooftop of a building close to the White House. Nagoriyuki learns that Chaos can thoroughly control other people, from mind to appearance, but not him. Nagoriyuki questions Chaos’s goals as he presses on seemingly without a destination but nonetheless compares it to bushido.
After Chaos gets control of the White House and activates Tír na nÓg, Nagoriyuki hunts down Sol and president Vernon. In their first encounter, Sol realizes Nagoriyuki’s power and escapes. Later, Nagoriyuki finds them again, but Giovanna suddenly appears and takes him on this time. She seems to dominate at first, so Nagoriyuki admits defeat. This causes Giovanna to lower her guard, and Nagoriyuki immediately takes advantage of that, knocking her out. Following that, he and Sol fight again. The two exchange heavy blows, with Nagoriyuki constantly giving Sol advice until the latter lands a solid strike. Using this opportunity, Nagoriyuki briefly resists Chaos’s control, dropping his sword and allowing Sol to knock him out.
He regains consciousness sometime before the final battle with I-No and comes in at a crucial moment. Nagoriyuki tells Sol her weak point and then charges into battle to create an opening, allowing Sol to shoot I-No with the Outrage. The shot lands, defeating I-No. It is unknown where Nagoriyuki disappeared after everything was over.
Nagoriyuki is a noble samurai with a strong respect for bushido, or code of honor. He expresses no animosity towards his opponents, even offering them some advice, and does not engage in a fight unless strictly necessary.
Nagoriyuki is a very tall and muscular man with blue eyes and black dreads tied in a ponytail. He wears a white jacket resembling a haori and matching bottoms similar to hakama pants. He also wears white fingerless gloves, black leggings, an orange shirt hanging off the waist, black sandals, and a white mechanical mask that resembles a hannya mask.
Nagoriyuki is a unique character focusing on up-close and mid-range pressure. One of his defining features is an ability to cancel his special moves into other special moves, leading to very unorthodox pressure and mix-up opportunities. Once he’s out of range for some of his shorter attacks, Nagoriyuki is still intimidating, with an assortment of long-range normals that deal above-average amount of chip damage and have great hitboxes that further improve with higher Blood Gauge levels.
While his mobility suffers from a lack of dash, air dash, and double jump, it’s compensated by his forward-moving specials and a uniquely strong super jump. The Blood Gauge is Nagoriyuki’s most significant drawback as filling it will induce Blood Rage, continuously draining his health and possibly providing an opening for his opponent. He can lower it by landing some of his pokes or the command grab, but both options carry an inherent risk.
