Sophitia

Story

Sophitia Alexandra was born in Athens, Ottoman Empire, to her mother Nike and father Akelous. She has two younger siblings – sister Cassandra and brother Lucius. Her father was a baker, and they led simple lives until the god of forging and masonry Hephaestus bestowed divine powers on her and made Sophitia a holy warrior. With this, he gave her a singular mission – find and destroy the cursed sword Soul Edge.

After searching high and low for it, she eventually came across an infamous pirate, Cervantes de León, wielder of the Soul Edge. She bested him in battle but managed only to destroy one half of the cursed sword. And she paid a heavy price for it – one of the shards of this evil blade pierced her body, nearly killing her, but timely intervention from Taki saved her life.

Back in Athens, Sophitia became betrothed to the local smith Rothion. He’s the one who made her famous sword and shield for her, as he wished to protect her for whenever Hephaestus will have a new mission for her. This day would appear to be closer than they would have imagined, as the rumors of the Azure Knight’s disappearance began spreading, and the corruption in the land started to spread. 

Personality

Sophitia is one of the kindest souls in the entire SoulCalibur world, and it’s not at all surprising that the gods chose her for the divine mission. Her selflessness and devotion to whatever task Hephaestus has in store for her sometimes lead her to almost to the brink of death, but she never complains and fulfills her duties the best she can. Sophitia is a loving sister to Cassandra – she cares about her younger sibling so much that she does everything in her power to stop Cassandra from following in her footsteps.

Playstyle

Sophitia errs on the side of the easier-to-pick-up characters. She boasts balanced offense and defense and can be utilized either as a poke-heavy mixup character or as a somewhat turtling defensive one. Her main advantages are her good frames on key moves and the general safety that stems from that. She has good movement, her moves sting when landed properly, but she’s fairly short-ranged and can be successfully kept out of any good opportunities. Beginners can also successfully mash as Sophitia as her moves are usually straightforward and random inputs won’t get you in weird situations.

Appearance

Sophitia is a beautiful young woman with extremely pale skin and braided long golden blond hair. Her outfit is loose and provides little protection, but allows her significant freedom of movement. She uses a small shield to defend herself. Her laced leather boots reach her thighs and end with metal plates on her feet.
