Street Fighter V Combo Breaker 2023 Top 8 Results
Here is your top 8 for the last time at a major tournament for Street Fighter V

For the last time we had a major tournament for Street Fighter V (you can assume it will come again next year as a side game) at Combo Breaker 2023 and in the most remarkable fashion, JAK (formerly Justakid) won the tournament beating favorite iDom 3-2.

It has been a remakable year and a half for JAK who was considered a strong player, but not one of the best. But he has certainly changed minds now. He made top 8 at Evo 2022 and won a fair few tournaments including Frosty Faustings and Roundhouse. He also appeared at Capcom Cup and was at Evo Japan 2023

Here are your top 8

  • 1. Justakid
  • 2. iDom
  • 3. Jazdero
  • 4. Docta Afrikan
  • 5. Blarrlad
  • 5. CheezyT
  • 7. MailYn
  • 7. Ludovic

JAK was dominant for most of his top 8 run and defeated CheezyT and Jazdero with some ease before making Grand Final. The person who would come up against him would be none other than iDom. Just as with Evo 2022, iDom was sent to losers'relatively  early by Footwurk and he fought his way to top 8. In typical iDom fashion, he crushed the opposition and there was a feeling of inevitability when he got to Grand Final.

As it turned out, JAK was more than a match. Using Juri and knowing that he would have no access to V-Trigger all through the set because of Laura's relentless pressure, JAK fought well and challenged iDom in the spaces he likes to occupy. Also, JAK's ability to fight out of the corner was a major contributor to his victory and his use of Ryodansatsu served him really well. It was disappointment for iDom who, just like at Evo 2022, faltered at the last hurdle. He will certainly be back, but it will not be in Street Fighter V.

This win was a perfect send off to a game that started pretty badly, but grew to become arguably one of the best Street Fighter games made.

The chapter closes on competitive Street Fighter V (at least at the highest level) and now we can look towards a new chapter with Street Fighter 6. We can't wait for all the action to begin!
