Street Fighter 6 Surpasses 6 Million Units Sold
It will overtake Street Fighter V in no time

Here’s a polished version that keeps the tone of an excited fighting game fan while staying clean, professional, and ready for a fighting game–focused esports site. No em dashes used.

Capcom have announced that Street Fighter 6 has hit 6 million units sold in just under three years.

The announcement came through a short social media post that read, “Fantastique! #StreetFighter6 has now sold over 6 million units worldwide! Our utmost gratitude to everyone who has hit the streets and to all those who will soon join us. 💗”

This milestone lands only five months after the game reached 5 million sales, which is impressive on its own and shows again how popular Capcom’s most dominant fighting game has been in the last couple of years. SF6 is now on track to surpass Street Fighter V, which sold 7 million copies as of 2022. That number took SFV almost seven years to reach. SF6 is only a million away despite being on the market for just under three years.

Street Fighter 6 launched in June 2023 to rave reviews and is widely credited with having some of the strongest marketing a fighting game has ever seen. Since release it has only grown in popularity, helped heavily by the Japanese public, which has embraced the game almost like a national pastime. The competitive scene has also been energized by an influx of rookie players with incredible talent, which in turn has created new storylines, rivalries, and fresh intrigue.

The game is not perfect. Fans still complain about the lack of costumes, certain mechanics that could use better balance, and the addition of Mai which has sparked its own debate. Even with these issues, Street Fighter 6 remains in a strong position.

Accessible enough for newcomers but still demanding tight precision at the highest levels, SF6 has earned significant goodwill. The decision to add guest characters like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui has been well received. The roster has also drawn praise for its mix of returning icons like Akuma and Bison, nostalgic fan favorites like Alex and C. Viper, and bold new designs like A.K.I and Marisa. SF6 has done a lot right.

With the competitive scene thriving, more characters on the way, and continued smart business moves such as collaborations with K-pop groups, McDonalds Japan, and crossover events with games like Monster Hunter Street Fighter 6 is looking more and more like the best fighting game Capcom has released in decades.
