Street Fighter V Surpasses 7 Million Unit Sales
As we say goodbye to Street Fighter V it has again posted some impressive stats after such a turbulent start

Is Street Fighter V a successful game?

This is a question that will receive different answers and many will be reluctant to call it successful especially after its much-storied disastrous start in February 2016

However, it seems that the question of Street Fighter V's success is a moot point with the announcement that it has surpassed 7 million unit sales since it first launched seven years ago.

This was announced on Street Fighter's official Twitter account where they posted the great news and added a follow-up tweet thanking fans for all their support and even apologizing for the disappointing launch in 2016

Back in August, it was reported that Street Fighter V had surpassed Street Fighter II as the best-selling Street Fighter game ever with 6.6 million sales as of June 2022. Even after the announcement of Street Fighter 6, or maybe because of it, people have continued to buy Street Fighter V and have propelled it to over 7 million sold units.

The marketing around Street Fighter 6 has been incredible even going so far as to feature a crossover with the WWE, which fans have appreciated. It is believed that Capcom have learnt from the mistakes of Street Fighter V and is pulling out all the stops with SF6, which promises to be the best Street Fighter yet. It has even been speculated that the recent flurry of Street Fighter 6 marketing suggests that February might have been the proposed date of release and that the June 2nd date we currently have is Capcom employing caution to ensure that there are no mistakes.

Street Fighter V has now sold about the same number of copies as Street Fighter IV combined (Super and Ultra) but still lags behind the unified sales of Street Fighter II, which sits at 14 million units sold. With all the hype surrounding Street Fighter 6, it will be interesting to see how well it does sales-wise when it releases in the next few months.
