New Ingrid Footage For SF6 Shows Her Long-Awaited Critical Art
Shrinking opponents, gold dust, a supernova finish — SF6's newest character does not do anything by halves

Ingrid, the latest fighter to join the Street Fighter 6 roster, is being fleshed out further thanks to new battle footage released ahead of her launch. The videos, which tend to release before the character, typically involve the upcoming character fighting against themselves, piloted by the CPU, and usually set to level 7, with 8 being the highest. This enables fans to have a decent idea of what the character is capable of and how to utilise them.

For Ingrid, the video showed a lot. Of particular interest was her critical art, an enhanced version of her level 3 super which activates when she has low health. Her critical art was not shown in her gameplay trailer, leaving fans wondering what it would look like. The new footage finally answers that question.

Ingrid's critical art sees her shrink the opponent, then sprinkle what looks like gold dust on the miniaturised character which, considering the size difference, hits like a volley of powerful projectiles. She then closes her hand into a fist and opens it slightly to release a final beam which, for the miniaturised opponent, looks like a huge laser fired from above. She finishes the move by towering over the character, who is engulfed in what looks like a supernova explosion.

Ingrid Is Street Fighter 6's Quirkiest Character

One of the strong points of SF6 is how it refuses to take itself too seriously, remaining deeply accessible to a casual audience in the process. Ingrid feels like an embodiment of that laissez-faire attitude. She is clearly an interdimensional being capable of great feats of strength, and all her idle animations reflect this, but it is also clear that she is a cheerful character who knows her own power and carries it lightly. In one of her round end animations, she gets into a fight with her monoid, who then starts to chase her. In another, she yawns and literally falls asleep, only to be caught by her monoid before she hits the ground.

With her whimsical attitude and over-the-top moves, Ingrid is gearing up to become a fan favourite when she drops on the 28th of May.
