MK1 - Invasions S3: "The Cryomancer" Shang Tsung Laboratory Mesa Guide

Mortal Kombat 1 Invasion mode looks to provide players with season content in an interesting new format for the franchise. Unlike the franchise's previous entry called Krypt, Mortal Kombat 1’s single-player focused content presents a table-top-like game for players to explore, find secrets, and eventually unlock more cosmetics through its Seasonal Koins system and chests.

The Story

Seeking to turn all timelines into a freezing hell, this titan Sub-Zero's plan is nothing short of demented. Bi-Han's drive to conquer the world for the Lin Kuei has driven him mad, as he jumps from timeline to timeline, freezing entire realms over. Leaving with no prisoners, he ought to be stopped before there is no one left to attempt it.

Shang Tsung's Laboratory

Before diving deep into Shang Tsung's Lab, you must have completed the Living Forest.

Once again, you need to travel through the halls filled with experiments of Shang Tsung's Laboratory. This time, you start at the very top, in the observatory, and make your way to the first floor. You can safely ignore the first two floors if you are in a hurry; once you reach the bottom, you can look for the "Damned If You Don't" node, which holds the key item Lost Experiment.

There is only one Klue node in this mesa, and it is behind the Cryomancer Heart barrier. It is found in the "There You Are" node, and it reads REWOP RATS (STAR POWER). To solve it, you just need to use Johnny Cage's Hollywood Walk of Pain fatality. If you want to review the Klues for any of the other mesas this season, we have a guide right here with all of them.

You can check if you are missing on nodes by looking at the path's color. Uncleared paths are marked in green, cleared ones are in light blue, and paths you can’t move into are in red. You can also follow the green arrow for directions as to the quickest route to the end of the mesa.

After Shang Tsung's Laboratory

With Shang Tsung defeated, you can now make your way to the final mesa of the season, the Rampart, where Sub-Zero is making its last stand against you. Enemies will be harder, and several mini-bosses are in your way. So, checking in on the Gateway Portal and fishing for some strong talismans and relics might be wise before facing off against the cold wave.
