Although future expansion and DLC have been halted, the NRS team is still working on Mortal Kombat 1, or at least, it seems like they have pieced together a new patch that will be released after Evo Las Vegas 2025.

Mortal Kombat, once though of as a key part ofthe trifecta of fighting games, is currently going through a runt, as the Evo Las Vegas competitor registrations showed it at the bottom of all the mainstage titles, and with a considerable distance between it and the next game up.
