As always, Tyler Lansdown, Derek Kirtzic, and Stephanie Brownback were there to give us all the details.
Raising the Dead: The Return of Quan Chi Upcoming Updates
Crossplay is coming to Mortal Kombat 1. The team at NRS is targeting a February 2024 release for the feature, which should work for MK1 owners in PS5, Xbox, and PC; not Nintendo Switch, however. There will also be a Wifi filter option when playing online, so players can ensure better player experiences.
There will also be a patch soon with a handful of quality-of-life improvements as well as some balance changes, mostly targeting Kameos. NRS is also adding dialogue back to many of the game's modes, including invasions, towers, versus, and others.
Invasions Season 3
There will now be character intros for fights and mini and mesa bosses, adding to the atmosphere of the encounters. Also adding to these major fights is more intense music. However, there are no new mesas for this upcoming season. Season 3 will feature Sub-Zero as the primary antagonist of that short story.
Quan Chi
Quan Chi fully embraces his necromancer background, as most of his normals draw from the power of the dead or creatures in other dimensions. Some of which can even hit full-screen, thanks to his portals. His specials, including the classic skull projectile, also use his sorcery. Round out his zoning tools are a bone cage that can trap opponents, a vertical teleport stomp, and a buffing portal that improves his projectiles or repels opponents.
Khameleon
Khameleon has one base move that gives you 50% damage-resistant armor. Otherwise, she will cycle between different versions. Khameleon will either change these randomly based on time, or you can hold R1 after any move, allowing you to ask for a change. She has four different personas she uses for her moves:
- Kitana: Fan Lift
- Jade: Projectile invisibility
- Mileena: Roll
