GO1 Shares Health Update After Taking Hiatus From Competitive Gaming

Japanese pro player GO1 has given an update regarding his health and promised fans that he will return to competition once he can.

GO1 suffered a health scare while at the Esports World Cup for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which forced him to withdraw. Subsequently, he announced that he would be going on hiatus to focus on his health and hopefully get back to competitive gaming.

That was in July, and nothing had been heard from the champion since then.

He gave an update today on his X account, where he said he is getting better but still has some challenges.

In his words:

“I'm continuing with my recuperation, but thanks to everyone's support, I've been able to get through daily life without any issues lately.

“Long gaming sessions are still tough for me, but my recovery pace has picked up compared to before, so I think I'll gradually start resuming activities.

“Physically, handling multiple titles in parallel is still a bit rough, so for the rest of this year, I'll be focusing my energy on Fatal Fury.

“Next year, once I'm fully recovered, I'm hoping to dive back into multi-game efforts!

“Looking forward to your continued understanding!”

GO1 is one of the most successful fighting game players of his era, with major tournament wins in Dragon Ball FighterZ and Street Fighter 6. He was also the winner of both Evo 2025 and EWC 2025 for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

It is hoped that he is able to resume his professional career upon his return and remains around for the long term.
