The Mildom Beast representative took the tournament against fellow veteran, Tokido
Keita 'Fuudo' Ai emerged as the champion of the Topanga Championship 4 yesterday after winning a grueling first-to-ten set against Tokido.
The Topanga Championship is one of the top tournaments in Japan and it is highly regarded due to its fascinating format. Participants in the final were some of the best in the world including Daigo, Momochi, Pugera, Tokido, and so on. After months of playing against each other, Fuudo and Tokido were the last two standing. They played against one another and Fuudo got the better of his compatriot to win the set 10-9.
Topanga top 7
Fuudo used three different characters in his winning run to really show his versatility. Against Daigo, he used R.Mika who was incredibly effective against Guile's fireball game and when it was time to face Tokido, he used both Birdie, a character we don't see much of anymore, and Poison, who has become more of his main. With this win, Fuudo pocketed a nice chunk of change, ¥2,500,000 to be exact, and has done a lot for his standing in the game.
Fuudo was also the winner of the Japanese eSports Grand Prix in 2020 along with other prestigious tournaments. He was nowhere to be found at the latest CPT meaning he is yet to qualify for next year's Capcom Cup. But with other competitions on the horizon, we hope to see this incredible veteran at Capcom Cup next year. You can catch his pulsating win against Tokido here.
