Dual Kevin Calls for Standardized Setups Across Capcom Pro Tour Events
Dual Kevin made top 8 at Blink Respawn but not without difficulty, now he is hoping standardized setups can improve the quality of competition

Street Fighter 6 is entering its fourth year and looking ahead to its fourth Capcom Cup, a circuit that has so far been highly successful.

Yet there are still significant concerns surrounding the logistics of the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT), particularly when it comes to standardization. To qualify for Capcom Cup, players travel around the world to compete in various tournaments for a spot at Capcom's premier event. However, one of the major issues encountered by professional players was recently highlighted by Dual Kevin, who critiqued the event after securing a top-eight finish at Blink Respawn.

According to Kevin, some tournament setups suffered from input lag, while others lacked monitor audio altogether. He argued that this places players at a disadvantage, as they are often forced to compete on unfamiliar or inconsistent equipment. Kevin urged Capcom to implement a standardization system that would require every CPT event to use a consistent setup, allowing professional players to practice under the same conditions they will encounter at tournaments.

Kevin's statement reads:

"Coming back from DR and feeling well rested now. I wanted to talk about some issues I had with the event and the pro tour as a whole.

Headsets - no sound

Setups - laggy

"Considering we're playing for a million dollar prize pool, standardized tournament setups need to exist. It makes no sense for our lives to be harder and not know what equipment we'll be playing on.

"Tell me the exact monitor, console, settings, etc., that will be played on at the tournament and I promise you a lot of us pro players will practice on those exact settings beforehand. But this needs to apply for EVERY CPT event. Not trying to get used to a certain monitor one tourney and a different monitor the next tourney in two weeks. What can be done about this? @CapcomFighters"

Many fellow professionals, including Evo champions Punk and Problem X, echoed Kevin's sentiments. In many other esports, standardized competitive setups are commonplace, making their absence within the fighting game scene a notable concern for players.

Capcom has yet to respond publicly. However, as the CPT season continues, it is likely that these issues will remain a topic of discussion and could continue to overshadow what is otherwise one of the premier competitive circuits in Street Fighter.
