MenaRD Wins Blink Respawn and Books His Place at Capcom Cup 13
The two-time champion claims his home tournament for the first time in the Street Fighter 6 era, defeating NoahTheProdigy in the final

Two-time Capcom Cup winner MenaRD has punched his ticket into Capcom Cup 13 with a stunning win at the recently concluded Blink Respawn tournament, held in the Dominican Republic.

Mena defeated 2024 Blink winner NoahTheProdigy to claim the premier tournament, marking the first time he has won Blink Respawn since the start of Street Fighter 6.

Blink Respawn has always meant a great deal to Mena. The tournament takes place in his home country, and it has grown considerably in prestige over the years, starting out as a Dominican local tier 3 event before developing into a stop on the Capcom Pro Tour circuit from 2024 onwards. Much of that growth is down to the visibility Mena has brought to his country, and because of that, he commands enormous respect and has the crowd firmly behind him whenever he plays.

Punk and Higuchi Strengthen Their Claims For Capcom Cup Slots

While MenaRD has secured an automatic ticket for Capcom Cup, there was significant news for both Punk and Higuchi, who took third and fifth place, respectively. Both players have accumulated an impressive points haul that places them high on the CPT global leaderboard, which admits eight players into Capcom Cup.

Punk is currently sitting at 550 points following strong displays at both Evo Japan, where he took second place, and Blink Respawn. Higuchi, who finished third at Evo Japan and fifth here, has netted himself a handy 400 points in the process. With those totals, it does feel as though both players may have done enough to see themselves through, even with five more premier tournaments remaining in the season.

The players will now have a few weeks to recover before convening in Las Vegas for Evo, which takes place at the end of June.
