Craime Ends Blaz's 11-Tournament World Warrior Streak in Chile

Chilean pro player Craime won the third edition of the World Warrior tournament for Chile.

What made his victory so remarkable was that it came against fellow prodigy Blaz, ending his streak of 11 consecutive World Warrior titles.

Using Ryu, Craime defeated Blaz's Sagat to claim his first World Warrior victory of the season.

Until now, Blaz had completely dominated the scene with win after win, and even with this defeat, he is still considered the favorite to qualify for Capcom Cup out of Chile. This is the first year Chile has competed as a separate region from South America following Capcom's decision to designate the nation as its own region.

That decision speaks to the country's depth of talent. Besides Blaz and Craime, who are widely regarded as the two best players in Chile, there are also Scorpionprocs and Nicolas, twins who previously dominated Mortal Kombat before making the switch to Street Fighter 6.

With the win, Craime remains second on the leaderboard with 90 points, around 50 points behind Blaz, who is still likely to finish the series at the top of the standings. That would earn him the advantage of facing the lowest-seeded player in the top bracket.

If either Blaz or Craime wins one of the remaining Capcom Pro Tour Premier events, it would open the door for another qualifier from the region.

The two players will now turn their attention to the Esports World Cup, for which they have both qualified, and will be hoping to make deep runs.
