Mortal Kombat 1 - Invasions "Blood Moon" Rampart Mesa Guide

Mortal Kombat 1 Invasion mode looks to provide players with season content in an interesting new format for the franchise. Unlike the franchise's previous entry called Krypt, Mortal Kombat 1’s single-player focused content presents a table-top-like game for players to explore, find secrets, and eventually unlock more cosmetics through its Seasonal Koins system and chests.

Throughout these guides, we will be exploring the details of Invasions, how to complete them, tips and tricks, and what rewards you can expect in the season of the Blood Moon.

The Story

The second season of Mortal Kombat 1 invasions, the season of the Blood Moon, sees a Vaeternus that managed to conquer Outworld and beyond, eventually reaching over all the realms. As Nitara and the rest of the vampires never found balance, they eventually reached across timelines, into Liu Kang's, to exert their will unto his. They even went as far as converting many heroes into vampires.

Now is up to you to dismantle their conquest and travel through the mesas to reach the Rampart and the home of the ravenous Vaeternus Nitara to finally rid Liu Kang's timeline of their presence.

The Rampart

You have, or at least should have, made your way through all the other mesas to finally reach the Rampart. If you haven't unlocked it yet, then you should go finish the Tarkatan Colony first.

Made in the likeness of The Dragon King's castle, under which his mechanical warriors stand ready, the Ramparts is a crucial point in Mortal Kombat 1's story mode. For this season of invasion, the Blood Moon, it is the place where Nitara and the other vampiric forces from a different Vaeternus timeline has decided to nest and prepare the conquest of all the realms in Liu Kang's timeline.

Rampart is a fairly linear mesa, with only one merry-go-around area and then a side path that has to be completed either way to gain the Armory key. In that merry-go-around, going to the right from the entrance, you will find the klue node "Get Up", to unlock the chest behind it you will need to use Stryker's fatality.

The other Klue node in the area is much later on, in the path that goes up the wall opposite to the Bloody Fangs gate. The node itself is called "Within Reach" for which you will need to use any Kameo's brutality. If you want to check all the klue nodes in invasions season 2, you can check out our guide here.

You can check if you are missing on nodes by looking at the path's color. Uncleared paths are marked in green, cleared ones are in light blue, and paths you can’t move into are in red. You can also follow the green arrow for directions as to the quickest route to the end of the mesa.

Once you obtain the Armory Key you will be able to face down the two mini-bosses, Havik and Reiko, as well as the chest portal, before landing on a small rest area with our good friend Bob and his forge as well as the Kollector and his shop. Past this is Nitara, the final fight of the invasion mesa.

Invasions Season 2 "Blood Moon" Ending

After defeating Nitara and cleansing the timeline of her minions, Liu Kang was able to find a different Vaeternus among the timelines, one where they could help heal the few people who were turned into vampires.

You have now completed this season of Mortal Kombat 1 Invasions, the Blood Moon. The teaser for the next season seems to hint at a Sub-zero related story, perfect for the winter. In the meantime, the Gateway Portal is still open for more challenges that also carry more rewards. There are also challenge pyramids that pop up from time to time on the mesa select screen, which again feature more rewards.

As for the koins you've been collecting, some can be used at the Dragon Shrine for common rewards, while the season koins can be used in the store to purchase some skins or palettes.
