A Vietnam Veteran. John Rambo is a part Italian from his father and part Najavo from his mother. At the young age of 17, he enlisted in the united states Army. In September 1966, he was deployed to South Vietnam and returned to be trained for the US special forces a year later. In 1969 he was deployed once again, this time as part of the SOG, specifically a Special Forces Long-range reconnaissance patrol unit.
In 71' his unit was attacked by local forces and captured. Tortured and killed for over a year. Rambo and Delmar were the only ones to escape in may of 72'. Even though this traumatic experience, Rambo would continue his service until being discharged in 1974.
Attempting to rejoin civilian life proved a challenge for the veteran. As public perception of his and other soldiers, deeds were highly criticized. Pair with his traumatic experiences, he developed Post Traumatic Stress disorders causing him to lash out to those around him.
