The Kytinn are an insect-like species that group together to form a humanoid form. When Shao Khan conquered the Arnyek Islands, in the Outworld, D'vorah pledged her loyalty to his empire. Eventually, she would serve under Kotal Khan amidst the civil war kicked off by Mileena.

Though she is below the command of others, she does so as a survival strategy. She understood that she could willingly join Shao Khan or do so unwillingly and become a slave under him.
