Biography

Dr. Gero created this Android to take revenge on Goku for destroying the Red Ribbon Army. The appearance of Android 16 is based on Dr. Gero’s son, who was an important man in the Red Ribbon Army but was killed even before the original Dragon Ball anime.

Android 16 is calm and friendly. Despite his pretty aggressive mission, he loves nature and protects various life forms. Dr. Gero himself created this type of personality — he did not want this creation to be reckless and die in a battle, as his son did. On the other hand, Dr. Gero considered this peaceful nature a flaw for his Android, so he did not want to activate 16 for quite a long time.

The initial program to kill Goku lost its priority after the attack of Cell. Android 16 wouldn't allow that evil creature to destroy animals and nature, so he joined forces with Goku and his friends to fight this common threat.

It turned out that Cell is a too powerful opponent. First, Android 16 was damaged, and Bulma repaired him. But then, Cell totally destroyed 16.

Android 16 in the story of Dragon Ball FighterZ

In this fighting game, Android 16 has been revived by Android 21 — she created a new body and copied the personality. The guy is almost the same here. The only new thing is the lack of that killer instinct, so Android 16 doesn’t want to kill Goku.

This character plays a rather supportive role in the DBFZ story. He tries to protect Android 21 from her destructive transformation, and probably he even has some deep feelings towards her. Android 16 is the first opponent for Goku, but that’s rather a test of skills. He is mostly silent throughout the story, and players discover a bit more only closer to the end.

Playstyle of Android 16 in DBFZ

This is a grappler with good speed, typical for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Android 16 is a bit tricky for beginners, and you might need some practice to take his power under control. He deals significant damage and has effective mix-up options.

Android 16 has a big range for hit-confirm. His Dynamite Driver special move (grab) is quick with the Light attack. Gliding Powerbomb is unblockable. Flying Powerbomb is a great, super fast anti-air. Assists from Android 16 are very effective.

Some of the negative aspects are a poor neutral game of Android 16 and his slow process of gaining the meter.
