A passage from Trials and Tribulations: Strangest Court Cases of the Twentieth Century had once written, "In the 1951 case of New York v. Joseph Cross, charges against the gangster were dropped when eyewitnesses claimed the murder weapon was the man’s own shadow."
In Italy, Allied Army PFC Joseph Cross stumbled upon an ancient, double-headed coin. The night of finding the artifact, a demon spawned in his very own dream. Both the demon and Cross came to an agreement, the offer being that this demon would fight for Cross during his battle, but in return, once Cross finishes his final fight, the demon would get his soul.
After the war, New York's underworld was heavily stunned once the new, absolute terrifying force had entered it. Cross’s outfit quickly took over and shortly started to run lottery numbers, defense, and even extortions in every division of New York City. During the night, Cross would personally go visit his foes, the few survivors being labeled as living shadows. For years on, Cross owned New York.
While Cross’ obsession for both wealth and power grew, he delved deeper into the supernatural. Cross trudged through New York’s entire wizard population, gathering up both magical artifacts as well as monstrous henchmen. Once Cross obtained his signature Shrouded Gauntlets of Belzar, everything for him sprung in a downward spiral. Unknown figures began to roam the town, searching high and low for Cross. These threatening beings, covered with archaic cloaks and wielding ancient weapons, started to battle with Cross. Only using his fists and guns showed to be much more difficult than the average New York thugs he’s been dealing with prior. In the end, though, Cross and his demon managed to hold their ground.
While living in Valhalla, Cross saw it as a perfect loophole to his deal with demons. The both terrifying and charming mobster solidified his place in the Grand Tournament with his love for combat and his fear of the deal. Now Cross and the demon had agreed on a new wager, and like similar mindset legends, began to be placing bets on other battles.
Cross wields the Blasters as his primary weapon and the Gauntlets as his secondary weapon.
The Blasters are a quick attacking weapon for an aggressive playstyle, great for combos, and even have quite a few tricks to pull off.
Gauntlets are two massive fighting metal gloves used for multiple fast attacks.
Cross is looked at as a legend with slow and telegraphed attacks but as a great gauntlet user with above-average signatures.
Cross’ stats are pushed more towards his strength and defense, leaving his agility and dexterity on the lower end of things.
