Ling Xiaoyu

Story

From a young age, Ling Xiaoyu learned martial arts and dreamed of building a theme park in her home country, China. The naive fighter stowed away inside a Mishima Zaibatsu yacht during a family trip to Hong Kong. She was eventually found, but once Heihachi saw Xiaoyu fighting, he made a deal with her. If she won the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 he would fund her park.

Although unsuccessful, Xiaoyu ended up befriending Jin Kazama and taking Panda as a bodyguard. Soon after, she received an anonymous email warning of Heihachi's evil intentions. Xiaoyu then joined the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to discover the truth and reunite with Jin. Unfortunately she would need to be rescued by Yoshimitsu, and would later hear of Heihachi’s passing.

She once again joined the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, believing that winning it could allow her to bankroll a time machine and save Heihachi. Once again, she failed to win but discovered Heihachi was alive after all, she also realized that Jin wanted to kill him.

Seeking to change Jin's mind but hindered by the Mishima Zaibatsu's military buildup, she entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to persuade Jin. Infiltrating Mishima Zaibatsu, she faced opposition from Claudio Serafino, who wanted to use her as bait for Jin; however, Xiaoyu convinced him to her side.

Xiaoyu embarked on a global journey with Panda, joining forces with Zafina as well. She now seeks to find Jin, who has been missing for months.

Personality

Xiaoyu is an innocent and cheerful girl. Despite her naivety, her determination shines through, like entering tournaments to build her amusement park while oblivious to Heihachi's plans or her attempt to alter the Mishima family's tragic fate using a time machine in the fifth tournament. 

Xiaoyu's caring nature is evident in her unwavering belief in Jin's goodness. Overall, she's a caring and determined character, albeit still somewhat naive and immature.

Playstyle

Xiaoyu's gameplay is often centered around speed and evasion. She has plenty of tools to pressure her opponents and build up momentum for combos. Given her fast-move kit, she lacks raw damage.

She is a fairly difficult character to learn, but once you do, she can be a massive threat to any opponent in her way with her evasion, knockdowns, and setups.

Appearance

The Dancing Phenix, Ling Xiaoyu, dresses in traditional Chinese attire with plenty of flair and golden accents. She wears her hair in two twin ponytails. She is a young adult, being only 19 years of age. Her rigorous training and participation in the King of Iron Fist tournament ensures she is fit and ready for any fight.
