Biography

Sora is the main character of the Kingdom Hearts series, debuting in the very first game – Kingdom Hearts I. He’s a small child from the Destiny Islands, a remote, secluded world that’s home to him and Riku. Sometime before the events of the first game, a girl named Kairi arrived at the islands and was adopted by the unnamed mayor. Sora and Riku quickly became friends with her, playing and enjoying their time together. The trio often dreamt about going on a big adventure beyond the horizon and discovering what wonders lie beyond their small world.

Their dream never dies when they become older. On the contrary, it becomes even stronger, more palpable. They even start building a big raft that can carry them. But before they’re able to set their plans in motion, a disaster strikes – a huge storm envelops the island, bringing forth a mysterious dark force. Riku succumbs to it, boisterously claiming that he’s not afraid of darkness or anything else. Sora tries to save his childhood friend but is unsuccessful in so doing.

While he couldn’t keep his friend safe from this insidious dark force, it’s at this moment when he awakens his dormant powers as a Keyblade wielder. He gets access to the Kingdom Key, a blade that he promptly uses to battle the weir creatures called Heartless that started appearing on his island. During this quest to cleanse his home from these monsters, Sora makes way to Secret Place, where he finds Kairi. However, she disappears as soon as he gets near her and is left to fight a giant heartless instead. After defeating him, he gets spirited away from the island by some force and has to make his way through the world of darkness until he reaches Traverse Town. There Sora meets Donald and Goofy, the court magician and the knight captain from the Disney Castle. This marks the beginning of the big adventure all three Destiny Islands children wished for. What they didn’t ask for is all the pain and sorrow they will have to go through to see it through to the end.

Sora is the last character to join the Smash Ultimate roster. He was one of the most requested fighters in many online polls, so Masahiro Sakurai decided to give the fans what they wanted in the last character DLC for the game.

Here, Sora excels as an aerial character – his air mobility is great despite him being a lightweight fighter. His most notable strengths are his high ground jump, low falling speed, and incredibly potent up aerial.
