Xiao Hai made history by clinching his second Esports World Cup title in Street Fighter 6.
Much like Ulsan’s triumph in Tekken 8, Xiao Hai completed the feat by defeating rising prodigy Blaz in a pulsating grand final.
Using a combination of Mai Shiranui and Bison, Xiao Hai fought his way through the gauntlet, taking down everyone who stood in his path. Blaz pushed him to the limit, with the set going down to a final game, final round scenario.
Although Blaz will be proud of his performance, the loss stings, especially after also finishing second at Capcom Cup earlier this year.
The victory secures Xiao Hai a guaranteed spot at Capcom Cup XII next year.
LeShar rounded out the podium in third place after defeating AngryBird, who finished fourth. The rest of the top eight featured EndingWalker, GO1, Fuudo, and YHC-Mochi.
With results like these, the ongoing debate about whether Street Fighter 6 is truly “inconsistent” has reignited. Many argue the opposite, pointing out that players such as MenaRD, Xiao Hai, Kakeru, and AngryBird have all posted steady results at major tournaments.
Now that the Esports World Cup has wrapped up, attention turns to the next big events, including Street Fighter League Japan and the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour majors.
