You'll never guess who made it is.
A recent post from the official WWE Champions Twitter account has teased an upcoming collaboration. They don't outright name the game, instead showing off the silhouettes of several characters, but it couldn't be more clear.
In the center of the image, we see the distinct contours of Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, King, and Armor King. A fairly safe and sensible selection of characters if you were want to do a collab. It only makes sense to feature both the biggest names in the genre, the characters that the whole story revolves around, and the two signature wrestlers.
If you haven't heard of WWE Champions before, you're not alone. Turns out it's a mobile and browser game that came out in 2017 and was made by Kung Fu Factory, who previously worked on PSP port of Mortal Kombat: Deception and a Wii port of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
Most recently, they've been largely doing licensed mobile games, like Nickelodeon Kart Racers Game and Hotel Transylvania: Blast. Despite having prior experience with fighting games, and even making some of their own, WWE Champions is actually a match-3 game, with the process being contextualized as a WWE fight where you match gems to win.
If you go to the game's official YouTube channel, the latest video will treat you to some AI generated slop, and a description that seems to be copypasted from wherever :WWELogo: emote exists. This can't be a good sign of how much money and care is being put into this title, but hey, at least it's good enough for Bandai Namco to land them the Tekken characters.
