But if you close your eyes...
Time is a flat circle. Tell me if you heard this before:
- Bandai Namco promises a patch that addresses criticism of the game.
- The patch comes out, and outside of a few good changes, it's a massive step in the wrong direction.
- Bandai Namco announces an emergency patch to try and salvage the situation.
That's right, we're getting Season Two: The Sequel.
Shortly after the patch dropped, the company released a statement on their approach to patching the game. It acknowledged that expectations from the community were not met, and gives a vague promise that "we will continue to pursue a battle experience where offense and defense are balanced around the Heat system, allowing players to engage in meaningful mind games and decision-making against their opponents."
It's hard to take these promises as anything concrete when they all come down to "our direction will be to do good things and to avoid bad things," without delivering concrete examples or coherent vision of what they want the game to be.
Following this announcement, they have already released a small patch, largely aimed at fixes for bugs and unintended interactions. You can find the full list of changes below.
According to their earlier announcement, all of these urgent changes will be directed primarily at bugs or things that have lower impact. So once that's done, we should start seeing more nuanced balance changes later down the line.
