Tekken 8: Miary Zo Is A Hit With The People Of Madagascar
The latest fighter is controversial, but popular in the right places

Miary Zo is the latest character to join the Tekken roster and is a newcomer to the series. She has been the topic of a lot of conversation for various reasons. For one, she is the first black character in Tekken 8, she is also only the second African in the game with the other being Zafina, but even this hasn't received any official backing.

Miary Zo is from Madagascar and practises Moraingy and other African martial arts.

In the country of her origin, this news has made waves, going so far as to appear in the Malagasy dailies and even on a news broadcast. The situation has been seen as a huge positive by the people of the nation and Africans in general.

There had been some controversy about the character's visage, with some saying she didn't look as African as she should and that she picked up the conventional 'Tekken woman' face.

However, since the nationals of the nation seem happy and feel represented, it is expected that some of the backlash will calm down.
