The latest patch introduces widespread character hitbox adjustments, a new Fight Pass, among many other changes.
Bandai Namco released the Ver. 2.06.01 update for Tekken 8, featuring the highly anticipated DLC character, Armor King. The update also includes extensive gameplay adjustments focused on hitboxes and collision detection, affecting nearly the entire roster. Armor King is now accessible early to players who purchased the Season 2 Character & Stage Pass or other premium editions. He will be available for individual purchase starting October 17th. The update also introduces Round 7 of the TEKKEN FIGHT PASS and new Nightmare Jester and Whimsical Jester costume packs in the in-game shop.
The core of the update focuses on major behavioral fixes for playable characters. The notes specify that changes were mainly made to hitboxes and collision detection to fix unintended behaviors, aiming to improve tracking and reduce missed attacks mid-combo. Characters like Lars, Lee, Dragunov, and Azucena received improvements to make multi-hit strings connect more consistently.
A side effect of these balance changes is that all replay data created before the update will no longer be playable and will be deleted from online servers, as the new character data isn't compatible with the old system. The update also included general improvements to sound effects, voiceovers, and visual effects.
