Somehow, Ancient Ogre returned.
Bandai Namco used the past Evo France as an opportunity to show off a bit of the new DLC character coming to Tekken 8 – Miary Zo.
Regardless of what you expected to see from her fighting style, you probably got it wrong, because this one is a bit of a curveball.
Let's start with the elephant in the room. Miary Zo apparently has Ogre powers, which some have managed to correctly predict just from the prominent red eyes. In practice, it's a bit more complicated. Her fighting style is fairly unique and doesn't really adhere to any one specific school of martial art. However, much like Ancient Ogre, she has a handful of Muay Thai and kickboxing techniques.
Where it gets more interesting, is the True Ogre part. The latter is slightly more unique as a character when compared to his more humanoid counterpart, and it seems like the Tekken team didn't want to lose out on the cool moves he had, but didn't want to straight up revive him either.
Instead, Miary Zo gets some sort of spectral or mystical powers that physically manifest themselves in them form of a long staff, a bundle of snakes, and a lemur tail. If you want to see a more detailed comparison, I highly recommend checking out IAMOP's video below. As is often the case, he did a really thorough case by case examples.
Don't get too excited, though (if you are indeed excited, there have been some mixed reactions to this). We'll have to wait until December 2nd for Miary Zo to release in Early Access, with a proper release on December 5th.
She will also release alongside a new stage – Baobab Horizon.
