Team Gyogun Disbanded, Reformed Under VARREL
Mago, Moke, and Mizuha now have a new team

Team Gyogun, one of the staple teams in Street Fighter League Japan has been disbanded with all the team players moved elsewhere. The team, who made the playoffs for the last edition of SFL Japan, boasts the likes of Mago, Mizuha, and Moke along with Tekken player, Ao.

However, all the fighting game players moved to a new team, VARREL, who have now created a fighting game division. VARREL was established in 2020 and was mostly focused on first person shooter games before joining the FGC.

Even more interestingly, Ryan Harvey, an FGC veteran based in Asia, reported that VARREL is now merged with TOPANGA, a prominent Japanese tournament organizer, to form CELLORB, which amongst other things has none other than Tokido as a director of the company.

This is very interesting as Tokido is currently signed with REJECT Esports, and is likely to compete in SFL Japan under the team. With VARREL possibly also being on the roster, it sets up a situation where Mago and co could be facing their boss in a tournament.

Whether this would constitute a conflict of interest is unknown, although it is unlikely as Tokido is a pro player who has a right to compete.

It is also likely that there would be more announcements regarding what this could mean moving forward. With Street Fighter League Japan set to return in the summer of 2024, there's  certainly more to come.
